Ever dreamed of vacationing in the middle of the desert? Me either ... that is, until we learned about the glass iT House, located in Pioneertown, CA near Joshua Tree National Park.
The off-the-grid iT House brings together raw industrial aesthetics with a green design approach. Situated on a 5-acre desert lot, the house follows key principals for a smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. And...wait for it...its a prefab design too!
It was the perfect destination for our first family road trip with Bash to celebrate Charles' birthday. With no TV or wifi for miles, we could really experience being in a place of extreme natural beauty and enjoy a secluded family getaway.
Designed by Taalman Koch, the iT House is an architecturally significant house and the design / build process of this incredible home is documented on their blog. Needless to say, it was a wonderful and inspiring design-charged weekend stay for us. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
