Desert Road Trippin'

To celebrate Charles' birthday this year, we decided to take a family road trip (a first for Bash!) down near Joshua Tree National Park for a weekend stay at the iT House.
Normally I would cry tears of pain at the thought of being in extreme heat, but luckily, during this time of year the weather is still "Irene-friendly."  I wrote a separate post here about the house itself because it was so inspiring!  In addition to some architecture eye-candy, we stopped through Los Angeles on the way down to see our beloved Michael Hung, who (insert proud bragging voice now) is the Executive Chef of multi-award-winning restaurant Faith & Flower.  We were able to get some much needed family QT with him and stuffed ourselves silly at his restaurant.  Bash was spoiled rotten during his first luxury dining experience courtesy of Uncle Mike and devoured everything his little gums could mash up (that wasn't already pureed for him).

After our LA pit stop, we drove straight down to the iT House, located in Pioneertown and enjoyed the rest of the weekend by relaxing, cooking and hiking through Joshua Tree National Park.  :)  Hope you had a great birthday daddy!

No road trip would be complete without a visit to In N' Out Burger, right?  Bash had his first experience (sans burger and fries of course) and got a free hat!

And there you have it!  Thanks for stopping by!  xo
