Milestone birthday in Malibu

You only turn 40 once, right?  So why not ring it in with a bang! 💥

Ma's in Maui

Every year we try to celebrate Chinese New Year with Charles' side of the family.  We've been going back to Taiwan the last couple years, but with Isa being such a fresh peanut, we decided to stay a little closer to home.  Maui was the winning middle ground location and we definitely weren't mad about it.  ;)

Hawaii 4-0!

Our first vacation as a family of four!  This trip was a memorable one but it definitely had a rough start...

Beautiful Brooklyn Wedding!

My beautiful sister-in-law Laura is now officially a "Mrs."!  We flew back to New York (Bash's first trip to daddy's home!) to be a part of a wonderful (and HOT!!) wedding weekend over Memorial Day.

Weekend Getaway in Carmel

Living in the Bay Area, we're lucky to have so many places to escape to for a quick weekend getaway.  For Charles' birthday this year, we decided to drive down the coast to Carmel and enjoy some much needed beach and down time.

Snow, sledding + smiles!

It's that time of year again!  Double birthday weekend for my mom and mei (my sister)!  We decided to celebrate this year in Tahoe at my mama's request.

Taitung 2016: Surf & Beach Retreat

After our Taipei family festivities, we took a short flight down to Taitung (east coast of Taiwan) to relax at our close friend Fobio's beach house.  Spending time in Taitung for surf, beach and relaxation is quickly becoming a staple part of our annual Taiwan trip.

Taipei 2016 : Chinese New Year

Happy Year of the Monkey!  Spending Chinese New Year in Taiwan is a tradition that we are really grateful for.  It's amazing to take Bash back to the motherland where he can learn about his culture first-hand and connect with family and food!

Ma's in Mendocino

Charles and I try to begin each new year with a dedicated weekend where we focus on defining our family, individual, professional and overall goals for the year.  It's a time for us to look forward and plan for what's ahead and also reflect on what we've learned and experienced.

Europe 2015: Lyon, France

Lyon was short but sweet (literally, considering all the macaroons we ate!)  We stayed in the cute neighborhood of Bellecour and had fun exploring different pockets of this charming city.  We tried to squeeze in a little bit of everything -- from historic Old Town Lyon (Vieux Lyon) to the modern Confluence Museum (Musee de Confluences) -- I think we covered quite a bit!

Europe 2015: San Sebastián, Spain

San Sebastián is absolutely charming, delicious and perfect.  It has a little bit of everything: amazing food (Michelin stars and pintxos galore!), design and architecture, beaches (including surf!), culture and beautiful scenery all in one place.  Its easy to see how people (and their bellies) fall in love with this city and keep coming back.  The locals were so warm and friendly, especially with Bash, and we had beyond a wonderful and memorable time!

Europe 2015: Bilbao, Spain

Bash in Bilbao!  :)  When friends asked us to visit during their trip home to London, it was a quick and easy YES!  Then we thought, if we were flying all the way across the pond, why not add a few more places to see, right?

Desert Road Trippin'

To celebrate Charles' birthday this year, we decided to take a family road trip (a first for Bash!) down near Joshua Tree National Park for a weekend stay at the iT House.

The iT House

Ever dreamed of vacationing in the middle of the desert?  Me either ... that is, until we learned about the glass iT House, located in Pioneertown, CA near Joshua Tree National Park.

Big Sur Birthdays

Mom and Mei's birthdays are two days apart, so we try to make sure they feel special individually and together during this time of year.  This year, we went to Big Sur to celebrate their duo birthday weekend.

Bali, beach and babi guling!

February 2015 was no doubt a busy but exciting month for our family.  First stop: Bali!
As shared in Bash's 8 month post, we spent a few fun-filled days here with his grandparents and Auntie Laura.  It was a very relaxing trip and we were lucky to call the Villa Sanook our home away from home (thanks Airbnb).

A Lil' Labor Day Aloha...

We did it and made it back in one piece!  This was our first real travel adventure with Bash, complete with flights, and we survived!  Not without any hiccups though of course, like oh ya know...missing our flight there...yep...that definitely happened.

Weekday Retreat @ Solage Calistoga

I'm a very lucky girl ... my birthday came a couple days early this year with a surprise weekday getaway to Solage Calistoga.  Charles was so sweet and planned a full day of relaxing, poolside fun and delicious eats (and maybe a teensy bit of wine - we were in wine country...hello).

The Sea Ranch

Architecture + nature + balance = The Sea Ranch.  This beautiful 10-mile coastal stretch is internationally known for its distinctive architecture and sensitivity of its land planning. Its been on our list of local places to visit for a while and it definitely did not disappoint.  It was a perfect place to enjoy our last weekend getaway before the nugget arrives.

Big Bump on the Big Island

Big Island babymoon!  Charles and I hopped over to Hawaii to spend some QT together while I can still comfortably travel via plane.  We LOVE Hawaii but never visited the Big Island before so this was a fun first for both of us!
